Gorillas

A large poster I create in memory of Sunshine the Alpha male Gorilla at the Columbus Zoo. The large Black area is where I removed my original attemp at rendering the female and baby gorillas. You can see their line art which I intend at some point to revisit and return her to the poster again at some point. Any area not 100% black was done with Rapidograph Pens... So many lines.... I swore I’d never do a piece that large with those pens ever again.

Boxing Dinosaurs

This piece evolved from a realistic Dinosaur fight illustration I was going to do but decided I wanted to have even more fun with it after doodling the T-Rex head sketch… I needed to push the perspective more but live and learn. A couple of things about it that were more successful were the character designs, and the technique I used. I’ve had many art friends ask how I got the surface most visible on the Styracosaur.

OPC Resin

One of my early clients saw my Boxing Dinosaurs and requested I create an Illustration for their magazine ADs.
Here are some of the development drawing and color comp for the Boxing themed one and an additional Soccer themed follow up piece they wanted to do. Depening on how ya look at it fortunately or unfortunately the owner of the company wanted to keep the original to hang in his office, so I don’t have any scan of the final piece.
