Aigle de Noir : Life Size

I cast my own teeth, hand painted his eye, and hand laid his eyebrow, mustach and goatee. Aigle de Noir was created as a dimensional illustration that joined 30 other pirates for a student art show.

Life Size - Laytex Rubber, Foam, Resin, Dental Acrylic, and Rubber Mask Grease Paints, and Custom Made Costume on a PVC Armature.

As a member of french royalty he was ejected from his privieged life after causing much embarasment and trouble for the royal family. He sought revenge for what he saw as excessive punishment and vowed as a pirate, to destroy the french trade routes and bankrupt the royal family any way he could. He worked his way up to the master gunner position on the ship where he lost his left ear and carries severe burn scars as a result of a connons misfire and exploding gun powder. The cuts to his left eye were administered by the captain when Aigle got a bit too friendly with one of the captains mistresses.

Aigle De Noir’s Story :

Harrah’s Alligator & Jester :

I was one of two sculptors tasked with turning these two design into massive hanging sculpture for Harrah’s floating casino. My portion of this sculpture consists of the seahorses and everything from the alligators nose back to but not including the fish. The Harrah’s projects remain the latest sculptures I have ever worked on. The pieces hang above two rows of slot machines at Harrah’s floating Casino in Mississippi.

Merry Fishmas

This Project was a yearly event at my Art College. Every year our dimensional illustration class would work on a single project under a Christmas theme. The purpose was to create a large three dimensional story that we presented to the local childrens hospital for the christmas season. Every year the hospital would bring down children able to leave their hospital rooms and we would reveal it to them as a christmas present from our college. During my years there I worked on three of these. For this particular piece, I was tasked with creating the ships structural frame, outer planking and the gun port decorations.

Mighty Mite : Character design by Tao Nguyen

The second maquette I was contracted to create by Tao Nguyen was of his character Mighty Mite. Again I was tased with building a one off maquette of his character for pitching his series idea to television networks. aluminum armature wire, Super Sculpey, and painted with acrylic paints. The base was also a pre cut raw wooden base stained with acrylics.

Teal Duck

Hand carved from Louisian Tupelo Gum. Rough cut on a freestanding band saw, rough shaped with carving knives and a hand rasp. Inlaid glass eyes and hand burned feathers.

I started this piece when I was somewhere areound 12 year old… Obviously never finished at the time I moved on to airplanes and eventually professional illustration and animation… I do plan my return to wood carving soon for commissions and fine art but lets just say the subject matter will be a bit more monsterous than ducks.

MAchine Animal Hybrids

I was contracted by a small Garage Kit Company to create some concepts for simple 1-2 piece resin garage kits that would appeal to young boys. The concept was to take cars, truck, and construction machinery and combine them with an animal that shared the same sort of aesthetic. The first two were the Dino Dozer which you see here made it to prototype sculpture and the VW Bug which only made it to a sketch stage befor the company ran into financial issues.

Styracosar Sketch

I love Dinosaurs and the Styracosaur is one of my favorites. This is a Sculpey 3D Sketch I did while studying the structure of the styracosaur head. After cooking the Sculpey I carved the wrinkles and skin texture in with an xacto knife.
